How these came about: About a lot of years ago a good friend of mine lost her leg to the flesh eating bacteria thing. {traumatic af right?} Fast forward to a few years later, we both got invited to a Christmas party and she decided it would be a "hoot" to buy a leg lamp for the white elephant/gift stealing game. Like- a big leg lamp. It might have been THE leg lamp from the movie. We furthered the shenanigans by plotting to make sure she unwrapped the gift. The look on everyone's faces as she sat in her wheel chair and unwrapped a life sized leg lamp, dramatically feigning offence, was one of the top 5 funniest things I've ever seen in my life. No one knew how to react. I then stole the lamp from her and I made jokes about her losing another leg. It took the crowd way too long to figure if they should laugh so we let them off the hook and they finally laughed. The leg lamp is a running joke about my friend who cant run. This year I made her a pair of these earrings for Christmas. And then made a few more pairs in case anyone else knows someone who needs a leg or two. That's a Christmas Story about the Christmas Story leg lamp.
